The Pillars of Islam
There are five (5) Pillars of Islam. These the basics of Islam, at least every Muslim has to perform these if he is able to. These are compulsory for every Muslim.
- Kalma
- Prayer ( Namaz)
- Zakat ( Compulsory Charity)
- Fasting ( Ramzan / Ramadan)
- Pilgrimage ( Hajj)
Zakat (Compulsory Charity)
Zakat is the third pillar of Islam. It is compulsory charity from those who have enough money to match the limit. It is for those people who does not have enough money to meet there both hands meet. If they deserve these charity.
Charity is a totally different from the Zakat ( compulsory charity). Charity is given whenever a person wants to donate something for nothing, Zakat is due every year if a person has the money required to give to to give Zakat. It is a limit which has to be a with a person till one year to be due.
